Port of St Tropez in Winter

Saint Tropez

  • Walk around the old town: la Ponche, small streets around the church, Place aux Herbes, Place de la Garonne…

  • Watch people play pétanque on the Place des Lices.

  • Have an ice cream at Barbarac (yoghurt is a popular flavour).

  • Have a drink on the terrace of the bar of the Hotel Sube.

  • The market on the Place des Lices takes place on Tuesday and Saturday mornings (great pizzas from the pizza truck).

  • L’Annonciade - small but nice art museum in an old converted chapel on the port hosting a selection of impressionist/ fauve/ pointillist artists who have links with Saint Tropez (such as Signac, Bonnard, Derain, Matisse…)

  • Musée d’Histoire Maritime in the Citadel, if you like sailors’ stories!

  • La Maison des Papillons de Dany Lartigue, hosting 35,000 specimens of butterfly.

  • Musée de la Gendarmerie, if you are a fan of The Troops of St Tropez movies.

  • Fondation Linda et Guy Pieters: small art foundation on the Place des Lices, hosting temporary art exhibitions.


Ramatuelle

  • Walk around the old town.

  • Have a drink at le Café de l’Ormeau or l’Atelier de la Forge.

  • There is an open air theatre that hosts a theatre festival and a jazz festival in August. Events agenda: https://www.ramatuelle-tourisme.com/en/events/

  • The market takes place on Thursday and Sunday mornings.


Grimaud

  • Walk around the old town.

  • Walk up to the castle ruins and enjoy the view!

  • Have a drink and/ or food at Cafoutche Flamel.

  • Have a cake at La Fournée Grimaudoise.


Day Trips

  • Porquerolles Island: Leave early and take the boat from Plage du Débarquement in La Croix Valmer or at la Tour Fondue in Hyères (book your boat tickets in advance). Hire a bike in town (the island is car free), see the Fondation Carmignac and have a swim at plage Notre Dame (it’s gorgeous!)

  • Jardin du Rayol: beautiful garden presenting landscapes from across the world. They also offer a marine trail.

  • Gorges du Verdon: Visit Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. You can do some kayaking on the lake or rent a pedalo. There are numerous hikes and climbing routes in this gorgeous area. There are many other activities available like ​​whitewater rafting or paragliding.

  • On the way to Nice: Fondation Maëght and Saint Paul de Vence.
